Training and Recognition Exhibit
This exhibit consists of rare recognition model aircraft hung from the ceiling to depict the way they were displayed in USAAF Ready Rooms during World War II. Some of these models were carved by high school students in 1942 and given to the military to help the war effort. Most models were produced from a crude plastic called cellulose acetate and are over 60 years old! These models are rare today because most of the original models like them have deteriorated over the years. We have examples of all the "Friend or Foe" training devices including filmstrips, flash cards, etc. Come and visit us to really appreciate this collection.
